Freeman Motor Company was first established in 1945 as the Chrysler, Plymouth, GMC franchise dealership in Lawrenceville. At its inception, Charles Moseley and Everett Freeman Sr. opened Moseley-Freeman Motor Company. It was not long before Freeman bought out Moseley with the intent of providing a livelihood for his four sons after World War II. These brothers, Everett Freeman Jr., Meredith Freeman, Nelson "Babe" Freeman, and Thurman Freeman joined in business soon after the war and began expanding Freeman Motor Company. As well as selling new and used cars, in the 1960s the company diversified into selling auto parts. Freeman Auto Parts was established and moved across the street from the motor company. From there, both continued to serve the community until the new car dealership closed in the early 1980s. In the early 1990s, Freeman Auto Parts moved outside of town to its current location on Highway 58, across from Food Lion. There are also two other easily accessible locations in South Hill and Crewe, Virginia. In any store you patronize, you will find helpful service from a member of the Freeman family: Doc Freeman, Bobby Freeman, Bitty Freeman, and Ish Freeman. Freeman Auto Parts is thankful for its dedicated employees. Notably, Estelle Kidd who has been with Freeman Motor Company and Freeman Auto Parts for nearly 35 years and Mike Sadler who has been with Freeman Auto Parts for nearly 30 years.
